Land Temperate: Average 26°C with high humidity. Tropical climate.
Water Temperature: 24-29°C
When to go: Although most areas can be dived year round the best time to dive Sabah and the east coast of peninsular Malaysia is April-September with May-August being peak time. See dive site descriptions for specific details.
Wetsuit required: 3mm shorty wetsuit is usually sufficient.
Visibility: 5-50m. Sipadan and Layang Layang have superb visibility. Other areas are less predictable.
Diving types: Drop offs, reefs, caves, wrecks
Experience Level: Beginner to Advanced
Marine life: Whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, barracuda, bumphead parrotfish, frogfish, leaffish, jawfish, mandarinfish.....this list could go on and on.
After diving: Sepilok Orangutan sanctuary, rainforest tours, Mount Kinabalu, Cameron Highlands, beaches, shopping etc etc.
