Malaysia Dive Sites :: Mabul Island

Muck diving is often referred to as macro diving because of the large macro (close up) lenses that photographers use to get the best shots. As more and more divers buy underwater housings for their digital cameras, macro diving is becoming more and more popular with some people travelling to Mabul exclusively for muck diving. Mabul is often referred to as "Macro Heaven."Nudibranch

One of the beauties about Sipadan/Mabul dive vacations is that divers get the best of both worlds. Dive with the sharks and turtles in the morning then in the afternoon dive in the muck of Mabul or Kapalai. Most resorts on the islands allow unlimited shore dives so divers can buddy up and spend hours in the shallows perfecting their macro photography skills.

There are several dive sites scattered around Mabul Island, some accessible from shore, others with a short boat ride. Most resorts have their own house reef.

Mabul Island Dive Sites Include:

Froggy Lair
Eel Garden
Crocodile Avenue
Seaventures Platform
